Tornado shoot 299 in first round of Kiawah Island Invite

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The King University men's golf team turned in their best round of the season on Monday in the first round of the Kiawah Island Invitational. The Tornado posted a team score of 299 while Leennawat Numpituckchaikul carded a two-under par 70 to lead the team.

After the first of two rounds, Numpituckchaikul is in 12th place after carding the lowest score of his career, a two-under par 70. He was followed by freshman Mathias Buanes who shot a two-over 74 in the first round.

John Scott registered his best round of the fall, shooting a 76 while Jake Stone wasn't far behind with a first round score of 79. Ross Maietta rounded out the squad with an 85 in the first round.

The Tornado posted a 299 in the first round, and are in 13th place of 17 teams after the first round. Armstrong Atlantic State University leads tournament after shooting 277 in the first round while USC Aiken and University of North Alabama are tied for second with a total of 282.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow with the second round at Cougar Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
