GRAHAM, N.C. – The King University men's golf team came into the second round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament in fifth place. The Tornado weren't able to move up the leader board in the second round as they finished in eighth place with a total of 608 after shooting 300 on the second day.
John Scott led the Tornado in the second round, carding a one-under 71 after his first round 76. His total of 147 game him a 10th place finish in the tournament. Taylor Gouge followed Scott with a one-over 73 in the second round. After carding an 80 in the first round, Gouge finished with a total of 153.
Ross Maietta followed his first round of 76 with 78 in the second round to finish at 158 while Leennawat Numpituckchaikul carded 76-78 for a total of 154. Richard Powell rounded out the squad, shooting 85-80 for a total of 165.
King's total of 608 put them in eight place while the top four teams will play match play tomorrow to decide the conference championship. Belmont Abbey College earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after finishing first at 574. Barton College followed at 578 and Queens University finished third with a total of 587. Limestone College rounded out the top-four, carding a 593.
