King opens Tusculum Invite with 315

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - King College wrapped up the opening round of the Tusculum Invitational Saturday with a 315 at the Link Hills Country Club.

King got a one-over-par 72 from Richard Powell (Hixson, Tenn.) to lead the way. Powell stands in a tie for eighth individually. Tommy Ricker (Parrottsville, Tenn.) carded a 78 while Josh Bamberger (Waterloo, Canada) added an 81. Tyler Welch (White House, Tenn.) rounded out the team scoring with an 84.

The Tornado's team score was 16th after the opening round. Host Tusculum used a 291 to take the team lead by two over the University of Findlay. King trails Wingate (N.C.) by two shots while Tiffin (Ohio) was 14th thanks to a 311.

USC Lancaster's Josh Hinson led the individual standings with a 69 to lead a group of three golfers tied for second at 70. In all seven players of the 108 were under par.

Link Hills played at 6,763 yards and Sunday's final round will start at 8 a.m.
