CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The King College men's golf team finished eighth at the 11th annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate contested Tuesday.
The Tornado posted a round of 317, five shots behind a three-way tie for fifth including Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.), Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) and Pfeiffer (N.C.). Tusculum (Tenn.) College took the team crown with a team score of 295, a shot better than host Wingate (N.C.).
Josh Bamberger (Waterloo, Canada) paced King with a 74 which placed him 10th in the individual standings. Tommy Ricker (Parrottsville, Tenn.) was next with an 80 and Nick Carden (Hixson, Tenn.) carded an 81. Richard Powell (Hixson, Tenn.) rounded out the team scoring with an 82.
Wingate's Clifford Blanquicet took home medalist honors with a three-under-par 69, two shots in front of Tusculum's Justin Harvey. A group of four golfers posted even-par scores of 72.
The event was cut in half after Monday's opening round was rained out.
