COACH

Delvonte Dixon

Dixon joined the King University track & field coaching staff in September 2023 following five seasons as a head coach at the middle school and high school levels.

Prior to arriving at King, Dixon spent three seasons as the head track & field coach at Letcher County Central High School in Whitesburg, Kentucky. During his tenure, he oversaw the development of sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers while creating and implementing comprehensive training programs designed to maximize athletic performance. In addition to his track & field responsibilities, Dixon served as the speed and conditioning coach for the football and soccer programs and worked as an assistant coach with the school's cross country teams.

Dixon's athletes experienced significant success during his time at Letcher County Central. In his first season, the school's 4x200-meter relay team qualified for the state championships. The following year, two relay teams and one individual athlete advanced to the state meet. In his final season, Dixon coached eight state qualifiers while guiding the 4x200-meter relay team to a school-record performance. The program also earned regional runner-up finishes in each of his final two seasons.

Prior to his time in Kentucky, Dixon served as the head track & field coach at Bruner Middle School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. There, he developed and implemented training plans for student-athletes across multiple event areas, including sprints, distance, jumps, and throws. He also coordinated and conducted team tryouts while helping build a strong foundation for athletic development at the middle school level.

Dixon brings extensive experience in athlete development, speed training, and conditioning to the Tornado coaching staff. His background working with athletes across multiple sports has provided him with a well-rounded approach to performance enhancement and competitive success.

A graduate of the University of West Florida, Dixon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Fitness and Conditioning in 2018.
