Filipe Barateiro

Barateiro joined the Tornado staff in August of 2020 following his gradution from Union College (Ky.) where he played for the Bulldogs' soccer team.

Barateiro played the last three years at Union College in Barbourville, Ky where the goalkeeper started all but two games in his career with the Bulldogs. He helped lead Union to two Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament championship game appearances. During his senior year, Union won the AAC Tournament championship as Barateiro garnered second team All-AAC honors as well as academic All-AAC recognition.

He posted his best goals against average in 2019 at 1.07 when he only allowed 15 goals and had a save percentage of 80.3 percent. In his three year career, Barateiro owned a 1.38 goals against average with seven shutouts, four coming in 2019.

On the sidelines, Barateiro coached Grupo Sportivo de Carcavelos in 2016 and Colegio Marista de Carcavelos in 2014 and 2015. Both are U16 teams as he helped the 2016 squad win an international tournament, the Ibercup.

Following that stint, Barateiro coached a youth academy team in Portugal, FC Porto where he led them to three regional tournament titles. In the summer of 2019, Barateiro was the head coach of Knox County Middle School team, and helped at Knox Central High School and Barbourville High School.
