King Ranked #3 in First NCAA Southeast Region Poll

The NCAA released the first regional rankings of the season earlier today, and the King Tornado, with a 17-6 overall record, earned a #3 ranking in the Southeast Region.  The University of South Carolina-Aiken, whom King defeated 88-84 on their own court on December 30, landed the top spot in the region with a 16-6 overall record, while Lincoln Memorial checked in at #2 with a 15-3 overall record.  Lincoln Memorial defeated King 75-68 on December 16.

The official NCAA rankings will determine participants in the 2013 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Men's Basketball Championship, which will be played at a to be determined site March 14-18.  The post-season tournament champions of Conference Carolinas, the Peach Belt Conference, and the South Atlantic Conference will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, with the next five highest ranked teams earning at-large berths.

Conference Carolinas opponents Barton (#4), Belmont Abbey (#7), and Limestone (#9) join King in the Top 10, while the Peach Belt and South Atlantic Conferences each had three teams represented.

King is in action tonight at #9 Limestone, and will host Conference Carolinas foe Coker College on Saturday at 4pm in the Student Center Complex.
