OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - King College's Clarence Smith was named to the 2011 NCCAA Division I Men's Basketball All-Tournament team for his efforts over the weekend.
Smith, a senior forward from Nashville, Tenn., averaged 16.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest at the three-game event.
He started with a season-best 28 points in King's first-round victory over Trinity Christian (Ill.) College. He was 12-for-16 from the field with nine rebounds Thursday. On Friday he added 14 points and nine more rebounds in a narrow two-point loss to No. 2 seed Spring Arbor (Mich.) University. To end his collegiate career Smith scored six points to help King to a third-place game victory over Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College with seven more rebounds which gave the Tornado third place.
In all he averaged 16 points and 8.3 rebounds per game at the nationals. Smith finished his career No. 8 on King's All-Time Scoring list with 1,492 points.
Smith was one of five players on the All-Tournament team. Nick Fox and Braxton Adamson represented national champion Dallas Baptist while Willie Pickvet and D.J. Baisden came from Spring Arbor.
