CLEMSON, S.C. – In just their second collegiate races, both Kaysee Armstrong and Andrew Bailey continued to turn in solid performances. At the Clemson University race on Sunday, Armstrong finished first in the women's A cross country race for the second time in as many races while Bailey finished in the top-20 of a very tough men's A field.
Armstrong took the lead from the start, and never relinquished it, winning the women's A cross country race by one minute and 30 seconds. She faced a field of about 15 that included a number of professional riders. Based on her results this fall, Armstrong should be a contender for the Mountain Nationals later in October.
On the men's side, Bailey had a quick turnaround as the freshman returned from the King University freshman class trip to Washington D.C., late Saturday night. Bailey faced a tough field of 30 riders, but the quick turnaround didn't faze him as he posted another top-20 performance in the men's A cross country race.
The duo will be in action again next weekend, October 5-6 at the Mars Hill College race in Mars Hill, N.C.
