Seybold hired as assistant acrobatics and tumbling and cheer coach
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Head acrobatics and tumbling coach Megan Bamford and head cheerleading and dance coach Debbie Neilson announced the hire of Nicole Seybold as an assistant coach that will help both programs. Seybold joins the Tornado staff following a stellar career competing in acrobatics and tumbling at the University of Oregon.

Cheer and dance lead tumbling classes at church camp
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Last week the King University cheerleading and dance teams was privileged to work with Celebration Church as they hosted their annual Rise Up children’s camp. The camp provides children with several different class options including tumbling, drama, art, guitar, piano, community service, hip hop, science, etc., incorporating God’s word and love into every session.

King joins the YWCA and Boys & Girls Club to celebrate Olympic Day
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Earlier this week members of the King University cheerleading and dance teams as well as other student-athletes and coaches had the opportunity to participate in Olympic Day at the YWCA. The Olympics are celebrated throughout the month of June, and the YWCA partners with the U.S. Olympic Committee to host this event.

Join King for Dig Pink Night and Late Night Madness
BRISTOL, Tenn. – If you haven’t been to the Student Center Complex to see the King University women’s volleyball team play, Tuesday night is the perfect opportunity. The Tornado will be hosting their annual Dig Pink event and taking donations that will go towards breast cancer research. Following the conclusion of the volleyball match, fans can stay to get their first glimpse of the King men’s and women’s basketball teams at Late Night Madness where the King athletics department will have a major announcement about the upcoming season.

Twister makes appearance at Tennessee Smokies game
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Earlier this month, Twister, the King University mascot travelled to a Tennessee Smokies baseball game to compete in their Mascot Olympics. While there, Twister and the other mascots mingled and took pictures with the fans prior to the game.

Neilson chosen to lead King cheer
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University is pleased to announce that Debbie Neilson has been hired as King’s cheerleading head coach. Neilson has extensive experience coaching high school and college cheerleaders in the Bristol area for nearly 20 years.

Cheerleading open tryouts to take place on May 26
BRISTOL, Tenn. – New King University cheerleading coach Debbie Neilson has announced the date for tryouts for the 2013-14 squad. The tryouts will take place on May 26 in Kline Gym on the King University campus.

King Cheer finishes 5th in Nation at Cheersport Nationals
This past weekend King Cheer hit the road to Nationals at Cheersport held in Atlanta, GA. The Lady Tornado competed two days in the College Level 4 division against Widener University, University of North Carolina, University of Georgia, Brenau University, Polk State College, Savannah State University, and East TN State University.

Cheer Team Places for First Time in Program History
The King College Cheer team accomplished a first in its program history last week while participating in their annual preseason camp held at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. The Cheer team placed in three events, including one first place event finish.
