Castaneda tabbed Conference Carolinas Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Junior infielder, J.P. Castaneda had a big week, helping lead the King University baseball team to a 3-1-1 week and was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week. In the five games, Castaneda hit .600, slugged .700, and drove in seven runs.

The Miami, Fla., native had a huge week for the Tornado, helping King a Conference Carolinas sweep of Southern Wesleyan University. He started the week by going 5-for-5 with a double and one run scored at the University of Charleston (W.Va.). Castaneda followed that by going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in and two runs scored in a suspended game against Lincoln Memorial University. Over the weekend he posted four hits in the series against Southern Wesleyan and drove in three runs with a double in an 8-1 win over the Warriors.

King will be in action again on Tuesday when they host Carson-Newman University at 3:30 p.m. The Tornado then hosts North Greenville University on Saturday and Sunday in a Conference Carolinas series.
