BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University baseball player Tyler Gaby turned in a great performance in last weekend's three-game series at Francis Marion University. He drove in five runs, including a three-run home run, en route to being named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.
Gaby had a stellar week at the plate, going 6-for-13 at the plate for a .462 batting average in a three-game series at Peach Belt Conference opponent Francis Marion University. In a 7-4 Saturday victory in the series opener, King's first win of the season, Gaby went 2-for-4 at the plate, hitting an RBI triple and coming around to score as part of a seven-run second inning.
In the second game of the series, Gaby laced a two-out single with the bases clear in the first inning, then stole second and came around to score on an RBI single. He laced an RBI double to left field in his next at-bat, and then launched a 385-foot home run off the scoreboard as part of a six-run fourth inning. He finished his weekend with a single in Sunday's rubber game. He slugged .923 for the week and had five runs batted in.
King is in action again on Wednesday when they host Lincoln Memorial University at 2:00 p.m. The Tornado then host cross-town rival Virginia Intermont College on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
