    Coker hands King their first tournament loss BURLINGTON, N.C. – Coming into the day, the task for the third seeded King University baseball team was simple, win and the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship was theirs. However, second seed Coker College had other ideas as their offense erupted for 14 runs on 18 hits to force a winner-take-all game with the 14-11 victory.

The Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament championship game is scheduled to resume tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in Burlington.

The Tornado dug out of a 3-0 deficit, but the Cobras bounced right back to take the game 6-3.

The Tornado bats stayed hot as King topped the Trojans 6-4 to move into the title game.

The Tornado turned three double plays behind the complete game performance by Alex Gonzalez on the mound in the 7-2 victory to stay in the winner’s bracket.

However, the Crusaders tied the game with a five run seventh, but the Tornado answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to take the game 7-6 and move into the winner’s bracket.

However, the Flying Fleet recorded 35 hits in the sweep of Saturday’s doubleheader. Erskine took a 13-9 extra-inning win in game one, and followed it with an 11-0 victory in game two.
