BRISTOL, Tenn. – King College's Tyler Gaby has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week during week number twelve of the 2012 season. This is the second time his has earned the weekly award.
The sophomore from Bristol, Tenn., hit .400 over three games this past week, going 4-for-10 at the plate. Gaby was one of three players to record two RBI in the playoff-clinching series against Belmont Abbey. King took two of three games over the Crusaders with an 8-6 opening series win and a 2-0 second game victory before falling in the finale 2-5.
Gaby also drew two walks to bump his on-base percentage up to .500 for the weekend. King secured the No. 4 seed in this weekend's upcoming Conference Carolinas championship tournament and will take on No. 3 seeded Pfeiffer Thursday.
The Tornado will head to Wilson, N.C. and play in the 2012 Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament as the No. 4 seed. King will play No. 3 Pfeiffer University in the tournament's opening game on Thursday, April 26 at 11 a.m. from the historic Wilson Tobs at Fleming Stadium. The tournament is being hosted by Barton College.
