Midweek Rivalry Game Canceled Due to Weather
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Wednesday evening's state-line rivalry game between King College and Virginia Intermont College has been canceled due to weather conditions in the area. No makeup date has been announced.
King (25-16, 14-10) will play the Belmont Abbey Crusaders this weekend in their final conference series of the season. The three-game set has serious postseason implications that have the potential to make or break the Tornado's season. King currently rests in second place in the West Division behind Belmont Abbey and has an opportunity to win the division with a series sweep.
The series between the Crusaders and the Tornado will begin on Friday, April 20 at 2:30 p.m. from the KC Baseball Complex. The set will conclude on Saturday, April 21 with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. Be sure to visit www.KingTornado.com for updates regarding this weekend's series, as rain is in the forecast .
If the season ended today, King would take claim to five seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The top six teams gain entrance into the tournament, hosted by Barton College at Fleming Stadium (Wilson, N.C.). The participants and seeding is determined by highest conference winning percentage. Nationally-ranked Mount Olive College has already clinched the East Division and Regular Season Championship, and the number one overall seed in the tournament. The tournament runs from April 26-29.
