HIGH POINT, N.C. – After a hitting hot streak over the Tornado's last five games, sophomore Tyler Gaby was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday by the league office. It is his first such honor this season.
King College's Tyler Gaby has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week during week number seven of the 2012 season. The sophomore infielder from Bristol, Tenn. led the team in at bats (21), runs (6), hits (11), doubles (3), triples (3), and total bases (20) over their five games last week in which they finished 5-0 with sweeps of Lincoln Memorial and St. Andrews. Gaby hit .524 in his five starts and had four multi-hit games during that time, including a 4-for-5 effort in game one versus the Knights with three extra-base hits. Gaby is now hitting a team-best .439 on the season with 12 extra-base hits, including six triples. King is currently 17-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
King is currently unbeaten at home this season with a perfect 10-0 record at the King College Baseball Complex. They will host Brevard College on March 21 at 3:00 p.m. in an effort to continue an 11-game home win streak, dating back to last year's NCCAA Mid-East Region final win against Covenant.
