Seven Sign to Join Tornado Baseball in 2013

BRISTOL, Tenn. – It is with great please and excitement that King College Baseball announces the signing of seven student-athletes that will play for the Tornado in 2013. Head Coach Blaine Brown released the signing of four infielders, two outfielders and a right-handed pitcher during the early signing period.

The seven signees, listed below, will join King for the 2012-13 academic year and play for the Tornado in 2013. This is Brown's first signing class since being named head coach of the team last June.

"We are excited to sign seven quality guys early," said Head Coach Blaine Brown. "These young men help fill some of our team's needs for next year with the departure of 11 seniors. They all have had success in the past and will bring a winning attitude with them to help us build onto King Baseball's great tradition."

Brown continued, "I cannot say enough about the relentless work my staff has put into putting this class together.Recruiting coordinator Luke Howard has done an outstanding job putting this class together and coaches Jake Cockerham and George Laoo have been grinding it out along with him. Their tireless work is appreciated so much as they have the same vision of building a program to compete at the national level."

The Tornado will embark on their first season as a member of Conference Carolinas following a season they finished 28-25 overall and advanced to the 2011 NCCAA World Series Semifinal. Their 28 victories marked the sixth straight season with at least that many wins. King advanced to the World Series after winning the Mideast regional title. The team also housed a NCCAA All-American in graduated senior Steven Mueller and NCCAA All-Tournament Team selection in current sophomore Reiss Stanley.

King will begin the 2012 season on Saturday, Feb. 4 with a doubleheader against Georgia College (Milledgeville, Ga.) at John Kurtz Field. The Bobcats and Tornado will end the series on Sunday with a single game on Feb. 5. King's first home action will be on Feb. 18 in a twin bill against Salem International.
