King Baseball duo on national watch list

BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College placed two players on the 2011 ABCA NCAA Division II All-American Committee list as players to watch according to the organization.

Senior third baseman C.J. Stabler (Kingsport, Tenn.) and junior catcher Doug Freeman (Lakeland, Fla.) were both mentioned. Stabler was a player to watch on the list while Freeman earned a spot on the newcomers to watch list.

Stabler finished 2010 with a .386 average with five home runs in 25 games. He drove in 18 runs and scored 16 times. Stabler owned an on-base percentage of .476 and led the team with a .729 slugging percentage.

Freeman comes to King from Seminole Community (Fla.) College and the 2011 season will be the first with the Tornado program.

King finished the 2010 season at 29-16 after winning the NCCAA Mid-East Region Championship and playing in the NCCAA Division I World Series. The Tornado opens the season with a Feb. 5 doubleheader at Francis Marion (S.C.) University.
