BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has named their student-athletes of the month for the month of December. Malcolm St. Louis of the men's basketball team and Whitney Mitchell of the women’s basketball team took home honors this month.
St. Louis took home Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors on December 19 after he posted his first double-double of the season and second of his career. The senior went for 15 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over UVa-Wise. For the month he averaged 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
Mitchell garnered Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors after she poured 21 points in a 69-67 win over Barton College on December 3. In the week she scored a season-high 26 points in an 88-74 win at Erskine College to close the month of November. She averaged 23.5 points and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor in the week, leading to the conference weekly award as well as Tennessee Sports Writers’ Association Player of the Week honors. In the month of December, Mitchell averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
