Justin Newring, Jr., Men's Track & Field
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced its Student-Athletes of the Month. Justin Newring, a junior sprinter on the men's track and field team, and Maegan Henry, a junior women's track and field team member that competes in the throwing events, received the honor for the month of February.
Newring was the Conference Carolinas champion in the 200 and 400 meter dash events. He posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 200 meter dash in the first meet of the season and posted a provisional time in the 400 in the season's third meet. He won the 400 meter dash at three different meets this season and was named a conference player of the week.
Henry has been one of King's most consistent contributers this season. She earned the title of Conference Carolinas Women's Field Most Valuable Performer after defending her conference title in the weight throw and winning her first championship in the shot put, an event in which she has posted an NCAA provisional mark. She currently holds the school record in both events and helped the team to a second-place finish at the conference championships last month.
Both the men's and women's track and field teams have concluded the indoor portion of their schedule but will begin competing in outdoor events with meets on March 20 and 21.
