King Falls on the Road to NGU in Two Games

The Tornado fell in both away games today against North Greenville

Tigerville, S.C. The King University Softball team played a doubleheader on the road against North Greenville (NGU), falling in both games. King battled through the first game with a late push but fell 4-3, while in the second game, NGU dominated, winning 9-1 in five innings.  
 
Game One:
 
In the first game, King was able to get off to a strong start with a first-inning run, scoring one run with Savana Luper crossing home on a hit by Ella Richey to the pitcher. King kept the bats going in the third inning with another run scoring, this one from Carlie Sheets, with another hit from Richey, a double this time.
 
NGU got the bats going in the fourth inning with three runs of their own to take the lead 3-2. They were able to put another one on the board in the sixth inning to take the lead 4-2 heading into the seventh. King would attempt a comeback with a run scoring by Alena Demakas from a solid hit down the right field line by Giana Winge. King would only be able to score that one, putting the final score at 4-3 for a King loss.
 
On the mound for King was Kaylee Meeks through all 6.0 innings, throwing three strikeouts and only allowing six hits.
 
Batting:
Winge had two hits and one RBI.
Grace Shary also had two hits.
Richey was able to get one hit, two RBIs, and the one hit was a double.
Katie Ryan and Aubrey King both had one hit each.
 
Game Two:
 
In the second game, NGU was able to slice up the Kings' defense, scoring six runs in the first inning alone. NGU would hold off King from making a push on offense, only allowing four hits all game against their 12 hits. King was able to score one run in the fourth inning off a solo homerun by Winge to make the final score 9-1, ending in the fifth inning.
 
The pitching staff on the mound today for King was Luper, Riley Lamb, and Sophia Waters.
 
Batting:
Winge had a strong game with two hits, one being a double and the other being a home run, which gave her both her RBI and a run.
Both Richey and Aviah Bunsic had one hit for King.
 
Up Next: The Tornado will stay on the road for their final regular season road game as they head to Lees-McRae on Friday April, 17th for a doubleheader.
