Belmont, N.C. The King University Softball team took on Belmont Abbey on the road, falling in the first game, but was able to come back after the first to get the win in the second, splitting the games. Â Belmont Abbey won the first 6-5, and King won the second 4-2.

Game One:

In the first game, King got off to a hot start with four runs scored in the first inning. With a big hit by
Aubrey King down the right field line for an RBI scoring
Aviah Bunsic.
Katie Ryan would come up next and score a huge three-run homerun to put King up 4-1 at the end of the first.

The Crusaders would go on a six-run streak, unanswered by King, until the sixth inning, when the Tornado entered down 5-4.
Ella Richey got to the plate looking to make a statement with a strong double to center field to score
Imari Golden. That would be the only run King would be able to score that inning, tied up 5-5. Belmont Abbey would grab a run in the bottom of the inning and win the game 6-5.

On the mound for King were
Kylee Horsley and
Riley Lamb. Horsley was able to strike out two batters while Lamb got three.

Giana Winge was able to earn three hits today on her four at-bats. King had two hits, an RBI, and scored a run.

Game Two:

After the first game, King was eager to come out of today with the split. They put
Kaylee Meeks on the mound, who was just seven strikeouts from her 100 career strikeouts, which she passed by like it was nothing, throwing nine of them in game two to help King win the game 4-2.

Starting off strong on a 2-2 count, Ryan was able to hit a solo homerun in the first inning to put King in the lead 1-0. The next score wouldn't come till the third, where
Yuleesa Kennedy would add yet another home run to what has already been an amazing Freshman campaign. The Tornado would lead 3-0.

Belmont Abbey would respond to the homeruns with one of their own in the fourth to bring the score to 3-2. Neither team would score till
Ella Richey would step up and smack a homerun to left field in the top of the seventh to seal the win for King 4-2.

Meeks earned the win on the mound today with nine strikeouts and allowed only two earned runs on two hits.

Ryan had two hits in this game, scoring one run and adding an RBI.
Â
Kennedy and Richey each had one hit with two RBIs and one RBI, respectively.
Â
Savana Luper and
Grace Shary each would have one hit.
