BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team won the third and fourth sets to force a fifth set against non-conference opponent Tusculum but fell in the final set.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King and Tusculum traded points before the Pioneers went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-5 lead. They would lead for the remainder of the opening set. King did attempt a slight comeback with three in a row late in the set but fell short as Tusculum took a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Justin Sawyer had three of King's nine kills and Sean Haberthy had a solo block.
- The Pioneers took an early lead but King scored four in a row to tie the set at 13. Tusculum responded with four in a row of their own. Sawyer ended their drive with a kill from JP Ribeiro. King ended the second set down 20-25.
- Sawyer added three more kills to his total.
- Facing a sweep, King started the third set with three straight points, including back-to-back kills from Colton Bueter. Tusculum took a 12-9 lead before the Tornado took a timeout. King came within a point off a kill from Sawyer. This sparked a 10-5 run for the Tornado to close the third set that included five kills and a Bueter ace.
- Sawyer (4) and Bueter (3) led the King offense.
- The fourth set was competitive as neither team eared more than a two-points lead for the entire set. Grayson Stoudt and Bueter blocked the last shot from Tusculum to seal the 25-23 set victory. Alex Barkley had five kills as the Tornado forced a fifth set.
- Tusculum took a 2-0 lead to start the final set and controlled the game with a 15-7 win to take the match. King recorded just three kills in the final period.

The King Tornado will be on the road next weekend as they take on Erskine at 6 pm on Friday, March 14 before heading to Emmanuel on March 15 for a 2 pm match.
