GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The King University baseball team split an evening doubleheader with Barton, winning the first game by a score of 9-7 before falling game two 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- The Tornado scored in the first inning as Truman Roper scored on a wild pitch before Joe Amunategui III doubled to right to drive in Borchardt.
- The Bulldogs responded with their of their own in the bottom of the first.
- Daniel Hicks score on a Roper ground out in the top of the second inning before Jose Ruiz doubled to drive in Jaylon Woodley and Conner Hyatt to bring the score to 5-2 in favor of King.
- Barton added four runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead.
- Barton added in the fourth inning with another run to take a 7-5 lead.
- Amunategui tied the game with a home run to left center field in the top of the seventh.
- King won the game in the top of the ninth inning as Woodley singled to right field allowing Hyatt and Levi Medford to score.
KING HIGHLIGHTS – GAME ONE
- Conner Hyatt went 2 for 4 scoring twice and reaching base on a walk once. Jaylong Woodley also went 2-4, scoring once and driving in a run.
- Joe Amunategui III had two hits, including the game-tying home run in the seventh inning. He ended game one with 1 run and three RBI.
- Jose Ruiz, Nathan Borchardt, Levi Medford and Amunategui each had a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- Barton scored first in the bottom of the first inning.
- King took the lead in the top of third inning as Conner Hyatt scored on a wild pitch and Michael Starrs scored on a Borchardt single to right center field.
- The Bulldogs added 4 runs on five hits in the bottom of the third. This was the final score, although King had an opportunity with bases loaded and two-outs in the top of the seventh inning, but were unable to hit in a run.
