BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team came back to take the lead against Tusculum University on Tuesday afternoon. However, the Pioneers also came back and eventually topped the Tornado 15-12.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Nathan Borchardt drove in four with a home run while Chad Evans laced a home run as well.
- Evans drove in three and was one of four Tornado to score two runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tusculum took the early lead with a pair of runs, one unearned in the first inning.
- The Pioneers extended their lead to 3-0 on a two-out double in the third inning.
- Truman Roper got the Tornado on the board with a double that scored Conner Hyatt in the third inning, cutting the King deficit to 3-1.
- Tusculum extended their lead to 7-1 with four runs in the fifth inning, but King answered in the bottom of the frame.
- Evans laced a three-run home run to left field, pulling King with 7-4.
- King grabbed the lead in the sixth inning as Hyatt drove in Garret Huffman who doubled earlier in the inning.
- Borchardt then crushed a home run with the bases loaded and two outs, giving King the 9-7 lead.
- The lead was short-lived, however, as The Pioneers plated five runs in the seventh inning. A single scored one before a Max Schmarder grand slam gave Tusculum a 12-9 lead.
- King responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning as a Huffman single scored Andrew Bryant.
- Huffman later scored on a Patrick Corley sacrifice bunt to pull King within 12-11.
- Tusculum extended their lead on a two-run Schmarder single and added another on a Ben Scartz single to take a 15-11 lead.
- Misael Garcia laced a leadoff double in the ninth inning for the Tornado and scored on a Bryant double to pull King within three.
- However, that was all the Tornado would score as Tusculum got the final three outs to take the contest 15-12.

- Schmarder led Tusculum with three hits and six runs batted in.
