FLORENCE, S.C. – The King University women's basketball team dropped a Conference Carolinas game Saturday afternoon, falling 100-55 at Francis Marion University.
Kiley Beach led the Tornado with 15 points and nine rebounds, with
Alexa Gramann adding 10 points and seven rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Early buckets from Jhayda McKinney als Alayna Smith gave King an early 4-2 lead.
- Francis Marion then scored the next 16 points, with a free throw from Brianna Dunbar accounting for the King point.
- After the Patriots scored the next eight points, Dunbar hit a three, followed by Beach hitting a jumper to make the score 26-10 with 1:25 to play.
- Francis Marion would score the final four points, taking a 30-10 lead after the first.
Second Period
- Beach hit a jumper with 6:40 to play to temporarily halt a Patriots scoring run.
- Jaelyn West added a jumper with 45 seconds left, making the halftime score 56-14.
Third Period
- King scored three of the first five points, including a layup by Dunbar and a free throw from Smith.
- West closed the quarter with an old-fashioned three point play hitting a fastbreak jumper with 47 seconds left before hitting the ensuing free throw.
- The Patriots scored a jumper with 21 seconds left to take an 82-31 lead into the fourth.
Fourth Period
- Dunbar and Ashley Phillip hit free throws to make the score 94-41 before a McKinney jumper to pull King to within 94-43.
- Beach hit a jumper with 2:09 to play, starting a 9-0 King scoring run that would span the remainder of the game.
- Among the points for King was an old-fashioned three point play by Potts with 1:48 to play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Beach and Gramann both scored in double figures, with Beach coming one rebound short of a double-double, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds.
- Gramann was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds. She also led the team with four assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Lauryn Taylor scored 23 points to lead all scorers, also posting 16 rebounds on 9-of-15 shooting.
- Other Patriots to finish in double figures were MacKenzie Feagin (17), Jada Richards (13) and Sommer Joseph (12).
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will close their home slate on Wednesday night when they host rival Lees-McRae College with Blue Ridge Cup points on the line.
- Francis Marion will play at Belmont Abbey College Wednesday evening.
