King earns home draw with Belmont Abbey

BRISTOL, Tenn. –   Mackenzie Winters scored just four minutes into the match Wednesday as the King University women's soccer team battled Belmont Abbey to a 1-1 draw in their home finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • King earned an early corner kick, which Ariana Gallegos fed into the box, where Winters was waiting to make it a quick 1-0 Tornado lead.
  • It took Belmont Abbey until the 31st minute to get a shot on goal, which was stopped by Olivia Seston.
  • On the other end of the field, King got a pair of shots on goal, which were both stopped by the Belmont Abbey goalkeeper.
  • The Crusaders found the tying goal with just a few minutes left in the first half, making it a 1-1 score heading into the intermission.
  • Rachel Radow had a shot on goal in the 61st minute, which resulted in a Tornado corner kick. Off the corner, Radow lined up another shot, which sailed wide left.
  • The Tornado had a lot of pressure in the middle part of the half, getting three shots, two of which were on goal in the 78th minute, forcing a pair of saves by the Crusaders goalkeeper.
  • Seston made her final save of the match in the 80th minute, as the Crusaders had two more shots, neither of which found it's way on net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • It was the first goal of the season for Winters, with Gallegos picking up her first assist of the season.
  • Seston finished with two saves, one in each half as the Tornado defense held Belmont Abbey to just three shots on goal.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lourdes Tompkins scored for the Crusaders, her second of the season. McKenna Schwarz had the assist.
  • Ryleigh Dougherty and Brianna Sroka both played 45 minutes in net, with Dougherty making three saves and Sroka making a pair.
