BRISTOL, Tenn. – Five members of the King University men's and women's tennis teams were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams.
Deniz Aytun and
Mishka Koricinova represent the women's team, while the men are represented by
Rhys Halcrow,
Alex Sodre and
Andre Schiabel.
Aytun, a sophomore from Talavera de la Reina, Spain, compiled a 5-10 singles record this season, and was 7-8 in doubles play, with all her matches coming in the top flight.
Koricinova, a sophomore from Bratislava, Slovakia, went 6-9 in singles play, with all her matches coming at no. 2 singles. In doubles play, she went 7-8, with a 3-6 record in conference matches.
Halcrow, a sophomore from Portland, England, went 7-8 in singles play, with singles wins over Santino Jose Sormani of Chowan and Martin Hlavacek of Lees-McRae.
Sodre, a sophomore from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was 5-9 in singles play, all of which came in the top flight. He also went 6-7 in doubles play, finishing the season on a three-match doubles win streak.
Schiabel, a junior from Sao Carlos, Brazil, was 4-10 at no. 3 singles, while also going 3-10 at no. 1 doubles. He won his final singles match of the season over Israel Rodriguez Rojas of Mount Olive.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
