DUNCAN, S.C. – The top seeded King University softball team opened the Conference Carolinas with a solid outing from
Madison Walter in the circle against ninth seed UNC Pembroke. Walter tossed another shutout as the Tornado topped the Braves 10-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNC Pembroke put runners on second and third with one out in the first, but Madison Walter got a strikeout and groundout to end the inning.
- Campbell started the bottom of the first with a double before scoring on a Turner single.
- Thompson followed with a single that scored two and gave King a 3-0 lead.
- Singles from Camryn Haag and Campbell put a pair of runners on before a Dye double scored both.
- Dye then scored on a Lauren Lawson bunt, extending the King lead to 6-0 after two.
- Maggie Deel drove in Thompson with a double in the third before three straight doubles from Campbell, Dye and Lawson gave King a 10-0 lead after three innings.
- Following back-to-back Braves hits with one out in the first, Walter retired 10 straight before a two-out single in the fourth.
- Walter then worked around a two-out walk to end the game in the fifth and give King the 10-0 win.
