BELMONT, N.C. – The King University baseball team dropped a pair of contests at Belmont Abbey to close the season on Saturday afternoon. In two offensive contests, the Crusaders defeated King 17-10 before winning game two 12-8.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Hawkins and Davis Hall started the contest with back-to-back singles before Junior Renwick was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
- Steele then singled to score Hawkins and give King a 1-0 lead.
- However, Belmont Abbey got the next three outs to end the inning and leave the bases loaded.
- Goodwin made it a 2-0 Tornado lead with a home run in the second.
- However, the Crusaders came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning, two on a double from Caleb Burr.
- Renwick started the third with a single and Steele followed with a home run to give King a 4-3 advantage.
- Nevertheless, Belmont Abbey responded in the bottom of the inning. Burr drove in two more with a single to highlight the nine-run outburst that gave the Crusaders a 12-4 lead.
- King plated a pair of runs in the fifth inning the second on a Wes Bonney groundout to pull the Tornado within 12-6.
- Belmont Abbey added five runs, including there on a home run from Patrick Taylor in the sixth inning to take a 17-6 lead.
- King rallied in the seventh as Kale Richardson drove in one before a Wes Bonney sacrifice fly.
- Hall drove in another before Renwick scored on a wild pitch.
- That as the Tornado could score as Belmont Abbey took the contest 17-10.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Steele gave the Tornado a 2-0 lead with a two-run home run in the first inning.
- A pair of run-scoring singles and a groundout gave Belmont Abbey a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
- In the second, Taylor drove in one with a double and scored on a single to give Belmont Abbey a 5-2 lead.
- A Crusader home run made it a 6-2 lead in the third inning.
- Chase Hilliard drove in Renwick with a sacrifice fly before Patrick Corley drove in a pair with a single to right field.
- Hawkins then evened the score at 6-6 with a single the right side to score Goodwin.
- Belmont Abbey regained the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a sacrifice fly, single and wild pitch to take a 9-6 lead.
- The Crusaders added a run in the fifth before Hawkins drove in Bonney to pull King within 10-7 in the sixth.
- Belmont Abbey hit a two-run home run in the seventh to stretch the lead to 12-7.
- Hawkins then laced a home run in the eighth to pull King within 12-8.
- However, that was all the Tornado would score as the Crusaders took the contest 12-8.
