BRISTOL, Tenn. – Prior to the start of the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship final four, the league announced their all-conference awards.
Warren Davis,
Kellan Kennedy and
Justin Sawyer were all honored. All three earned all-conference honors for the first time.
Davis garners first team accolades as he ranks third in the league in total kills and kills per set. He set the school record for kills in a season and is the first player to eclipse the 400-kill plateau as he currently has 412 terminations. He averages 3.65 kills per set, a mark that ranks 21st in NCAA Division I. He also ranks ninth in the league with an average of 1.73 digs per set. Davis has four matches with at least 26 kills this season, including the last two and a career-best 26 on Tuesday in the quarterfinals against the University of Mount Olive. He also owns nine double-doubles, including a career-best 15 digs.
Kennedy was selected second team all-conference as his .421 attack percentage ranks fourth in the league and ninth in the country. Defensively, his 0.97 blocks per set average ranks third in the league and 21st in the nation. Kennedy also ranks in the league's top 20 with 245 total kills and an average of 2.31 kills per set. He posted a career-high 17 kills against Fort Valley State University and has eclipsed 10 kills in a match 14 times. He also posted his season-high of nine blocks in a match twice and has posted at least five blocks in a match 10 times this season.
Sawyer earns third team accolades as he became the primary libero for the Tornado defense. His average of 1.91 digs per set ranks fourth in the league and 25th in the country. His total of 212 digs ranks fourth in the league. He has posted at least 10 digs in match nine times, including a career-best 17 in King's quarterfinal win of Mount Olive on Tuesday night.
