BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team fought back on Wednesday afternoon against Carson-Newman University. However, the Tornado couldn't get even with the Eagles, falling 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carson-Newman manufactured a run in the first inning with a leadoff single, sacrifice bunt, stolen base and groundout to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles added two more in the third, one on a double from James Denton and another on a single from Mitchell Balint to take a 3-0 lead.
- A Davis Hall leadoff walk in the fourth got the Tornado offense going as Steele later singled to put two runners on.
- Mason Swartz singled to drive in Hall before an error allowed Steele to score and cut the King deficit to 3-2.
- The Eagles loaded the base in the fifth inning, but Benjamin Blondino got out of the jam unscathed.
- Two walks, followed by a sacrifice bunt and a run scoring groundout in the sixth extended the Carson-Newman lead to 4-2.
- Steele laced a one-out double in the sixth and later scored on a Chase Hilliard two-out double to pull King within 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- Sam Astern started the eighth inning with a home run for Carson-Newman before a groundout scored another run and gave Carson-Newman a 6-3 lead.
- Steele started the ninth inning with a double, but that was all the Tornado would get as Carson-Newman took the contest 6-3.
