WILSON, N.C. – The King University women's basketball team ran into a tough Barton College offense on Saturday. The Bulldogs got off to a hot start and extended their lead to hand King an 83-54 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Barton got off to a hot start, taking a 9-0 lead before a Jaden Potts triple got the Tornado on the board.
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 21-5 before King scored six of the final eight points in the period.
- Potts beat the buzzer, giving King a 23-11 deficit going to the second period.
Second Period
- Consecutive triples from Jaelyn West and Jhayda McKinney early in the quarter pulled King within 27-17.
- However, Barton responded with a 13-0 run to extend their lead to 40-17.
- West scored the final points of the period, but King trailed 43-22 at the half.
Third Period
- King scored the first five points of the period as a Tori Smiley basket cut the Tornado deficit to 43-27.
- Another Smiley basket later pulled King within 49-33, but Barton came back with an 8-0 run and held a 61-39 lead after three periods.
Fourth Period
- Barton extended their lead in the final period, taking the contest 83-54.

- Smiley led the Tornado with 14 points while Potts added 13.
- West added eight points and six rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Lauren Walker led four Barton scorers in double figures with 20 points.
- Nyah Wilkins posted 14 points and 13 rebounds.
- Lauren Mingo added 14 points and Cierra Rivelle chipped in with 10 points and five steals.

- King returns home to face rival Lees-McRae College on Monday night. Fans are encouraged to wear white for the 5:00 p.m. tipoff.
