SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University women's basketball team received a career-night from
Jaden Potts, but it wasn't enough at Converse University on Tuesday night. The Valkyries shot better than 50 percent from the floor, handing King a 64-52 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Converse jumped out to a 6-2 lead before the Tornado answered with six straight points.
- Potts started the run with a basket before an Alexa Gramann free throw and a Marta Raseron gave King an 8-6 lead with a triple.
- However, the Valkyries came back with seven straight points before another Potts basket.
- Converse then beat the buzzer with a triple to take a 16-11 lead into the second quarter.
Second Period
- Scoring was tough to come by in the second 10 minutes as a Potts triple pulled King within 20-14 midway through the period.
- However, those were the only points King scored in the period as Converse closed the half on a 7-0 run to take a 27-14 lead into halftime.
- In the second period, King shot 1-for-17 while Converse was 4-for-13.
- The Tornado shot 15.6 percent in the half while Converse shot 43.5 percent from the floor.
Third Period
- Le'Aije Ellington started the half with a triple for the Tornado, but Converse had an answer as they did each time the Tornado tried to cut into the deficit.
- A Jaelyn West triple and Potts jump shot pulled King within 35-27, but Converse pulled away over the final three minutes of the period.
- The Valkyries scored the final nine points of the quarter to take a 47-29 lead into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Period
- Converse extended their lead to 19 points, and King tried to get a run going, pulling within 14 twice.
- However, the Valkyries stretched the lead back to 18 before King had one final run down the final three minutes.
- Gramann scored five straight points before a Potts three-point play pulled King within 62-50 with two minutes remaining.
- However, the comeback ended there as Converse took the contest 64-52.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Potts led the Tornado with 18 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
- Gramann added 10 points while Ashley Allen grabbed 11 rebounds.
- The Tornado shot 29.0 percent from the floor in the contest.
FOR THE FOES
- Sydney Wilson led Convers with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
- Zahra Cross added 15 points and five rebounds while Jordan Brown chipped in with 14 points.
- Converse shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the game.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 18 points for Potts sets a career-high, topping her previous best of eight set last season.
