Neubert selected CoSIDA Academic All-America

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Katy Neubert of the King University women's cross country and track & field teams has been named Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), garnering third team honors.

Neubert becomes the first Tornado student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors since men's tennis player Moritz Poswiat in 2016-17. She is the second women's cross country/track & field athlete to be selected CoSIDA Academic All-America, joining Hanna Witt who earned third team honors in 2012-13 and and second team honors in 2013-14. She previously was the second two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in program history, joining Witt in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Neubert helped the Tornado to the Conference Carolinas women's cross country championship in the fall and earned the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award. She posted her season-best time of 20:57.00 at over the 5k distance at the Queen City Invitational. She also covered the 6k distance in 26:27.3 at the NCAA Southeast Regional.

On the track, Neubert finished runner-up in the 800 meters at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships. She has finished in the top two in the event in each of her first three years on campus. She was selected Conference Carolinas Scholar-Athlete for women's indoor track & field. Neubert was also selected Conference Carolinas Track Athlete of the Week on January 18.

During the outdoor season, Neubert set personal records in the 800 meters and the 1500 meters. She covered the 800-meter distance in 2:18.71 at the Catamount Classic and the 1500-meter distance in 4:58.62 at the VertKlasse Meeting.

In the classroom, Neubert carries a 4.00 GPA while majoring in Cell & Molecular Biology.
