BRISTOL, Tenn. — The King University baseball team opened up their Conference Carolinas series with the Southern Wesleyan Warriors in a big way, winning 10-4 Friday afternoon behind a strong seven inning performance from
Jakob Brown, who earned his second win of the season.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Robbie Scott had a monster game for the Tornado, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles and three stolen bases.
- Deric Graham went 1-for-4, with his hit being a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Brown threw the first seven innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Southern Wesleyan scored a run in the top of the first, the Tornado responded in the bottom of the inning when Jarrett Backus hit a one-out single to left field. After advancing to second on a passed ball, he scored when Scott laced a double to left-center field.
- Both pitchers threw fairly clean second innings before the Warriors scored a pair of runs in the third.
- In the bottom of the third, King responded with two of their own, scoring on an RBI fielder's choice from Scott that allowed Connor Andrews to score before executing a double steal that saw Backus slide safely into home, evening the score at three.
- King took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth, when Wes Bonney was hit by a pitch, advancing to third on an error by the left fielder. Chase Hilliard then hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Bonney to cross the plate.
- Bonney was involved in producing King's run in the sixth, hitting an RBI double into the left-center field gap to allow Scott to score, extending the lead to 5-3.
- The Tornado exploded for three runs in the bottom of the sixth, with Scott racking up a pair of RBI on a double before Davis Hall singled to left field, bringing Scott in to score, making it an 8-3 game.
- The final blow came in the bottom of the seventh, when Graham hit his home run before Scott singled a short time later to score Backus.
- Bodhi Baker came on in the eighth to relieve Brown and threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
FOR THE FOES
- Zach O'Malley was 3-for-4 on the day while Will Pitts went 1-for-2, with a walk and two RBI.
- Andrew Patterson threw a clean relief inning for the Warriors, striking out one batter
