BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team dropped a nonconference matchup to Lincoln Memorial University, 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Joshua Kim led the Tornado attack with 16 kills, while
Chance Hoffman finished with 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Lincoln Memorial took an early 5-3 lead, but back-to-back kills from Hoffman and Suetonius Harris tied the score at 5.
- The teams would then trade points before the Railsplitters scored three straight to take a 10-7 lead.
- LMU would later use a 4-0 run to take a 19-13 lead before a kill from Kim stopped the scoring run.
- LMU's lead would stretch to 23-17, where Hoffman would record a kill to start a string of three straight King points before LMU took the set 25-20.
Second Set
- King led the second set 5-4, when Sean Haberthy picked up a kill that started a run of four straight points, including a kill from Kim and a Harris service ace that made the score 9-4.
- A pair of kills from Hoffman would extend the lead to 15-9 before the teams exchanged points to make it 16-10.
- LMU would rally back to get to within 17-15 before a pair of Tornado points gave them a 19-15 lead.
- The Railsplitters came back and tied the match at 20, and later tied it at 23 before Kim picked up yet another ace that gave King set point, where an attack error would hand them a 25-23 set win.
Third Set
- The Railsplitters wasted no time in the third set, racing out to a 5-2 lead.
- After a LMU service error, Aaron Milstead picked up an ace to make the score 5-4. The Tornado would take the lead off a pair of attack errors from the Railsplitters.
- After Kim picked up a kill to give King a 9-8 lead, LMU would go on a scoring run that saw them score six straight points, taking a 14-9 lead before a service error.
- The Tornado would get back to within 20-18 after a kill from Haberthy and a combined block from Deppe and Haberthy, but LMU would eventually take the set, 25-20 to go up two sets to 1.
Fourth Set
- King took an early 3-1 lead, later extending it to 7-5 off a Hoffman kill.
- After LMU tied the score at 12, King scored three in a row to get to a 15-12 lead.
- The Railsplitters tied the set at 17, before taking an 18-17 lead. They would eventually extend the lead to 21-17 before a King scoring run brought them to within 21-20.
- After taking a 22-21 lead, LMU scored three in a row to take the set 25-21, and the match 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kim and Hoffman both finished in double figures for kills, with 16 and 10 respectively.
- JT Deppe finished with 35 set assists, while Harris and Melendez both had a team-high eight digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Johansen Negron had 31 kills for LMU to lead both teams, while Justin Sharfenaker had 17.
- Kohl Kutsch finished with 57 set assists, while Attia Soliman and Kohl Kutsch had 12 and 10 digs each.

- The Tornado are back home Thursday when they host Tusculum in their final nonconference match of the season.
- LMU will face Alderson Broaddus and Carlow Friday afternoon.
