BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team lost their first Conference Carolinas match of the season Wednesday night, falling to North Greenville University 3-0.
Joshua Kim had nine kills and five digs for the Tornado, while
Diego Marcano had eight kills and four digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Neither team was able to get an advantage early, with the largest lead being a 13-10 North Greenville lead.
- After a Crusaders service error, Marcano and Suetonius Harris went back-to-back with kills to tie the match at 13.
- After trading points, the Crusaders took a 17-14 lead thanks to three consecutive kills.
- The Tornado tried to rally, but multiple 3-0 North Greenville runs gave them the first set, 25-20.
Second Set
- The second set saw the Crusaders jump out to an early 3-0 lead before back-to-back attack errors brought King to within 3-2.
- After a Crusaders kill, Kellan Kennedy delivered a kill of his own to make it 4-3.
- King would tie the match a short time later on a kill from Harris, knotting things up at 5.
- The Tornado took advantage of multiple errors by North Greenville to take a 13-12 lead, but the Crusaders rattled off four consecutive points before a Marcano kill made it 16-14 Crusaders.
- Another extended run for North Greenville gave them a insurmountable lead, and they won25-18.
Third Set
- The Crusaders again jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Kim recorded a kill to get King on the board.
- After a pair of North Greenville points stretched their lead to 5-1, the Tornado scored back-to-back points, cutting the Crusaders advantage to 5-3.
- King would tie the match later off three straight attack errors, then after three points for North Greenville the Tornado scored two to make the score 17-16.
- The Tornado would get to within 21-20 thanks to a kill from Kim, but North Greenville scored four of the final six points to take the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kim finished with nine kills and five digs, both of which led the Tornado.
- Jack Sarnowski had 23 set assists, along with four digs, tying him with Marcano.
- Kennedy ended up with four blocks, three of which were block assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Gregory Torres had 18 kills, making him the only member of the Crusaders to have 10+ kills.
- Diego Roisch had three aces and three blocks.
- Brandon Baker had nine digs while Sergio Carrillo had 33 set assists.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will have a 10-day layoff before starting a two-match road trip on Feb. 25 when they face the University of Mount Olive before facing Barton College the next day.
- North Greenville is on the road Saturday when they face Lees-McRae College.
