FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — The King University men's basketball team couldn't keep pace with a hot-shooting Emmanuel College team Saturday afternoon, falling to the Lions 91-65.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- The Lions opened up a quick 7-2 lead, later extending it to 10-4 with 15:10 to play.
- That lead continued to grow, reaching 16-7 with 12:08 to go until the half.
- Emmanuel made a pair of threes to take a 22-11 lead before Desmond Davis hit a layup to kick-start a 6-2 King run that got them to within 24-17 with under eight minutes to go.
- King would get to within 34-28 thanks to a 10-5 run that saw four different Tornado record points, including a step-back three from Michael Mays and three free throws from Isaiah Curry.
- Emmanuel would score five of the final eight points of the half, with King getting a three from Blake Atwood hitting a step-back three of his own to cut the lead to 39-31 heading into the locker room.
Second Half
- King scored the first bucket of the half, a layup by Mays on their first possession to make the score 39-33 in favor of Emmanuel.
- After the teams traded buckets, Emmanuel went on a 7-2 run to take a 48-37 lead with 15:48 to play.
- The Tornado scored a couple of buckets, but a 13-5 Emmanuel run gave them a 61-46 lead with 12:01 left.
- The Lions went on another long run, this one a 11-3 run over three minutes to extend their lead to 77-54.
- The Lions were able to hold off the Tornado in the final six minutes, outscoring King 14-11 to take the 91-65 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Davis finished the game with nine points and four assists, both of which led the team.
- Mays, Brandon Lamberth and Curry all scored eight points, with Curry adding four steals.
- MJ Foust had six rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Isaiah Foster and Michael Wright both scored 15 points to lead the Lions, who had five players score in double figures.
- Kelvin Jones scored 14, while Brandon Simpson added 12 and Tyonn Stuckey had 10.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will finish the season with four straight home games, starting Wednesday against North Greenville.
- Emmanuel will start a home-and-home series with Southern Wesleyan on Monday at 6 p.m.
