EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The King University women's wrestling team opened their 2022-23 season with a dominant performance at the East Stroudsburg Open, with eight individuals winning their weight classes, while the Tornado easily won the team competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 2 Ana Luciano was undefeated at 143 pounds, with all of her wins coming via tech fall, including a 10-0 win over teammate Viktorya Torres in the championship bout. Luciano didn't concede a single point on the day.
- Making her collegiate debut, Avery Klbelbek won the title at 101 pounds, going 3-0, with all three wins coming via fall, including a championship win over Sacred Heart's Aallyah Payne-parris.
- At 130 pounds, no. 5 Montana DeLawder won the title after going 3-0 on the day, with three wins via fall and a championship win via tech fall over no. 3 Mia Macaluso of East Stroudsburg University.
- After winning her first match via tech fall, no. 1 Sage Mortimer won her next two matches via fall to set up a championship matchup against teammate Dianna Holmes, which Mortimer won via 6-0 decision.
- No. 2 Samara Chavez advanced from the first round after receiving a bye, them rattled off two wins via tech fall before pinning Abby Duke of Elmira College in the semifinals. She then won the championship after tech falling no. 5 Izabella Frezzo of New Jersey City University.
- Wrestling at 155 pounds, no. 6 Tiffani Baublitz also went 4-0 on the day, with two wins via fall and two wins via decision, including an 8-1 win in the championship match over no. 4 Madison Sandquist of Sacred Heart University.
- No. 5 Vayle-rae Baker took the title at 123 pounds after compiling three wins via decision. She started her day with a 12-6 win, before winning a 11-0 tech fall in the quarterfinals and a 11-7 decision in the semifinals before winning the championship, 6-6 on criteria over no. 3 Sofia Macaluso of East Stroudsburg, the 2022 U20 world finals silver medalist.
- Cheyenne Bowman went 3-0 on the day, with two wins via tech fall, including a 12-2 win in the championship match over Jewel Gonzalez of Gannon University.
- After receiving a bye to start the day, Holmes won her next two matches via tech fall, including a 10-0 win over no. 4 Julianne Moccia of Gannon, putting her in the championship match where she fell to Mortimer, 6-0.
- Viktorya Torres rolled into the championship bout after winning both her quarterfinal and semifinal match, with her semifinal match being a win via pin. She dropped her championship match to Luciano, 10-0.
- No. 4 Melanie Mendoza placed fourth on the day, winning her first two matches via tech fall before dropping her final two matches of the day.
- Making her King debut, Jessica Corredor won her first match 10-0 before dropping her second-round match. She then won her next two matches before falling in the 5th place match.
