Doyle, Ward lead Tornado to ninth-place finish at NCAA Southeast Regional

WINGATE, N.C. -- Ashley Doyle and Emily Ward finished in the top-50 Saturday to lead the King University women's cross country teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional, hosted by Wingate University

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Doyle finished in 23:18.63 to take 34th.
• Emily Ward didn't finish very far behind, crossing the finish line in 23:46.96 to place 44th.
• Mandy Lowery and Morgan Whitley finished within a second of each other, with Lowery finishing in 24:03.49 to place 52nd while Whitley had a time of 24:03.88 to finish 53rd.
• Tea Troche-Jones was 99th with a time of 25:45.30, while Destiny Haller rounded out the Tornado contingent with a time of 26:25.48.

FOR THE FOES

• Wingate won the team race on their home course, besting Catawba and Anderson, who finished tied for 2nd.
• Madison Clay of Catawba was the individual champion with a time of21:35.71.
