SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University women's cross country team opened the season with a solid performance at the Eye Opener Invitational. The Tornado were led by a pair of freshmen,
Ashley Doyle and
Morgan Whitley.

KING RESULTS: 7th of 12 overall, 4th of 6 NCAA DII

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In her first collegiate race, Doyle led the way for the Tornado, finishing 18th with a time of 19:54.7. She was the seventh finisher from and NCAA Division II member.
- Whitley came in next with a time of 20:46.6 to take 35th in her first collegiate race.
- Crossing the tape next in 21:24.4 was Katy Neubert while Meg Davis finished in 21:36.4.
- Grayson Howe and Destiny Haller nearly finished at the same time, coming in with times of 22:02.6 and 22:03.1, respectively.
FOR THE FOES
- The University of South Carolina finished first as a team while Wofford College came in second and Augusta University finished third.
- Augusta's Mackenzie Taylor won the individual race by more than 30 seconds with a time of 18:19.8.
