GAFFNEY, S.C. – The King University baseball team split a doubleheader at Limestone University on Thursday afternoon. King came back on a two-run home run by
Junior Renwick to take game one 11-10. However, the Saints came back to take the nightcap 8-2.

SERIES HIGHLIGHTS
- Connor Andrews paced the King offense with five hits on the day, including a 4-for-5 performance in game one. He drove in three in game one and two in game two.
- Renwick and Brayden Cooney also hit home runs in game one. Cooney drove in three in the opening game.
- Along with Renwick, Austin Meyer drove in two in game one on two hits.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Jarrett Backus started the game with a double and he later scored on an Andrews double.
- Bennett McCann then made it a 2-0 Tornado lead with a sacrifice fly that scored Meyer.
- Alex Cornell evened the tally with a two-run home run for Limestone in the bottom of the first inning.
- A single and walk put two runners on for the Tornado in the third inning before Cooney ripped a home run, giving King a 5-2 lead.
- The Saints got one run back in the bottom of the third, but Andrews laced a two-run home run to left center in the fourth, extending the King lead to 7-3.
- The Tornado advantage grew to 9-3 following a two-run single from Meyer that scored David Carnicella and Deric Graham in the fifth inning.
- The Limestone offense then erupted in the bottom of the inning with six runs to even the score at 9-9.
- Five different Saints drove in runs in the inning as a wild pitch brought in the tying run with two outs.
- Limestone took a 10-9 lead on a Cornell home run in the sixth inning, but King had an answer.
- Backus started a two-out rally with a double to center before Renwick ripped a home run to left field, putting the Tornado back on top 11-10.
- Limestone put two runners on in each of the final two innings, but Nic Blankenship got the final six outs, giving King the 11-10 win.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- The Saints manufactured a run a passed ball and wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead.
- The King offense tried to get going in the second inning, but the Tornado stranded a pair of runners in the frame.
- Ethan Hawkins started the Tornado half of the third inning with a double and Renwick later singled to put runners on the corners.
- Andrews scored the pair with a double, giving King a 2-1 lead.
- The lead was short-lived, however, as the Saints scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-2 lead.
- Limestone added two more runs in the fifth inning and two more on a home run in the sixth inning to take the contest 8-2.

FOR THE FOES
- Cornell led the Limestone offense with five hits on the day, driving in six and scoring five runs on the day.
- Benjamin Hubert posted five hits on the day, scoring four runs and driving in three.
