Tornado fall to Emmanuel on second-half goal

BRISTOL, Tenn. -- The Tornado battled hard on Saturday, but were unable to overcome a second-half goal, as they fell to Emmanuel 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • King took their first shot of the match, as Mate Lengyel got a look in the seventh minute that sailed wide left of the goal.
  • Emmanuel started to buzz the King net in the 32nd minute, when they took a corner kic and got a couple of shots off, one of which was blocked by a King defender to keep things scoreless.
  • The Lions took another shot a minute later that sailed over the top of the net.
  • In the second half, Emmanuel again controlled the offense, taking a shot on goal in the 56th minute that was stopped by Dalton Gammon.
  • The Lions eventually converted in the 64th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Tornado had a look in the closing minutes, as Lengyel teed up another shot, but this one was blocked by an Emmanuel defender. 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • Lengyel was one of eight Tornado to play the full 90 minutes, recording two shots.
  • Josh Clements also took a shot, as he took one in the 17th minute that was blocked.
FOR THE FOES
  • Mikaela Blakeley was the goal scorer for Emmanuel, as he received a pass from Alexander Pannier and put the ball in the back of the net for what would end up as the game-winning goal. It was the first goal of Blakeley's career.
  • Marco Lang finished with three shots for the Lions in 60 minutes played. Just one of those shots were on goal, with that coming in the 56th minute,

  • King is back in action Wednesday when they host Lees-McRae for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
  • Emmanuel will be on the road Wednesday, facing Converse at 7:30 p.m.
