Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball bounced back and won a see-saw Conference Carolinas affair with Belmont Abbey College on Saturday afternoon. The Tornado set the school record for blocks in a match as King took the 3-2 win with two sets reaching 30 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Sean Kohlhase got the day started as King opened up a 4-0 lead, but the Crusaders came back with four straight points.
- King tried to gain some separation as Suetonius Harris gave King a 17-13 lead and forced a Belmont Abbey timeout.
- Douglas Florencio extended the lead to 18-13 with a kill out of the break, but Belmont Abbey came back and pulled within 22-20.
- However, King scored the final three points to take the set 25-20.
Second Set
- The Belmont Abbey block got going in the second set as the jumped out to a 6-1 and lead and posted 6.5 blocks in the set.
- Back-to-back Tornado blocks, the first from Florencio and the second from Florencio and Harris pulled King within 21-20 and forced a Crusader timeout.
- A Joshua Kim kill evened the score at 22, but Belmont Abbey scored the final three points to take the set 25-22.
Third Set
- The blocking for both teams was outstanding in the third set with each team posting 7.0 stuffs in the set.
- King used a 4-0 spurt to take a 14-10 lead as Belmont Abbey called for a timeout.
- Out of the break, Belmont Abbey came back with four straight points to even the tally.
- The teams then traded blows, and each team held off set points from the opponent.
- King finally scored consecutive points on a kill from Julian Young and a block from Young and Kim, giving the Tornado the set 30-28.
Fourth Set
- Neither team was able to gain control of the fourth set as they traded blows the entire set.
- Belmont Abbey had the first chance at set point, leading 24-22, but Kim came up with a kill for the Tornado.
- Jack Sarnowski then evened the score with one of his two kills on the afternoon.
- King had three chances a match point, but the Crusaders earned a side out each time.
- Belmont Abbey scored the final three points to take the set 31-29.
Fifth Set
- King started the final set on a roll as a Harris kill gave King a 4-1 lead.
- The Crusaders came back to even the score at five before the Tornado went on a 6-1 run.
- Kim had a kill on the spurt and Sarnowski and Florencio teamed up for a block on the run that gave King an 11-6 advantage.
- A Kohlhase block gave King a chance at match point as the Tornado took the set 15-11 and the match 3-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Young paced the Tornado with 11 points and 11 blocks (nine assists) for the double-double.
- Kohlhase led the offense with 14 kills and nine digs to go along with three blocks.
- Kim added 12 kills, eight digs and seven blocks.
- Harris chipped in with eight kills, six digs and three blocks.
- Constan Tolentino posted nine digs while Sarnowski handed out 43 assists and added eight digs and five blocks.
FOR THE FOES
- Liam Maxwell led Belmont Abbey with 34 kills and 10 digs.
- Andrew Kohut followed with 11 kills.
- Kyle Ferguson posted nine blocks while Brennan Davis handed out 56 assists to go along with 10 digs and eight blocks.
- Daniel Cerqua led the defense with 14 digs in the back row.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 20 blocks for the Tornado is a school record, topping the previous best of 19.5 that happened three times.
- The 11 blocks for Young matches the school record set by Jon Wheaton a season ago.
- The double-double for Young is the first of his career.
- Kim's seven blocks sets a career-high, topping his previous best of six.

- King returns to the court on Friday when they take on rival Lees-McRae College at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex.
- Belmont Abbey travels to Lincoln Memorial University on Friday night.
