Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. – The King University women's basketball team started 2020 on a high note with an emphatic win at Southern Wesleyan University. Kiki Samsel poured in a career-high 20 points as the Tornado topped the Warriors 79-50.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Samsel got the Tornado off to a hot start with five points in the opening two minutes as King led 7-0.
- Following a Warrior basket, King added eight more points, capped by a Golden layup that extended the Tornado lead to 15-2.
- Samsel capped the quarter with a pair of triples in the final minute, giving her four in the quarter and giving the Tornado a 29-10 lead going into the second period.
Second Period
- The Tornado then scored the first eight points of the second quarter to extend their lead to 37-10 following a Symantha Fugate layup.
- Arielle Holloway gave King their largest lead of the first half a 50-17 with three minutes remaining until halftime.
- King held a 52-22 lead at the break after shooting 58.8 percent from the floor and holding SWU to a 25.0 field goal percentage.
Third Period
- King scored the first 10 points of the second half, started by another Samsel triple to open up a 62-22 advantage.
- The Warriors went on a 9-1 run to cut the Tornado lead to 63-31.
- However, King scored the final five points of the quarter to take a 74-34 lead into the fourth period.
Fourth Period
- Jada Owens gave King their largest lead of the game at 77-35 with a triple in the opening two minutes of the quarter.
- However, the Warriors closed the game on a 15-2 run, but the Tornado took the contest 79-50.

- Samsel led King with 20 points, going 6-for-8 from three-point range.
- Trinity Lee followed with 13 points and Ali Golden chipped in with 12 points and four assists.
