Bats come alive as Tornado defeat Saints 17-3

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team hosted Limestone College Friday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas matchup. After falling behind early in the contest, the Tornado bats came alive midway through the game as King defeated Limestone 17-3.

KING HIGHLIGHTS

  • King went 3-3 on the day including a double, two singles, one run batted in and two runs scored.
  • Valdes recorded three hits, three runs scored and three runs batted in for the Tornado.
  • Austin Meyer went 2-2 for the Tornado today including hitting a laser to right field for his first career home run.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Limestone started off the contest by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. However, King responded by getting one of those runs back in the bottom of the first.
  • In the third inning, King started off the inning with a double. Valdes followed King and ripped a double of his own to bring King home and tie the game 2-2.
  •  The Tornado would score one more run in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead over the Saints.
  • The King bats came alive in the sixth and seventh innings as they scored 11 runs in the two innings combined.
  • Highlights from the innings include a Barbato double ripped down the left field line that scored two runs and a Valdes triple that brought in two runs for the Tornado.
  • King chipped in three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Meyer hit his first career home run in the inning to cap off the day for the Tornado as they defeated Limestone 17-3.

FOR THE FOES

  • Trace Wetsell and Zach Piazza each recorded two hits on the day for the Saints.
  • Piazza recorded a home run in the sixth inning for Limestone.
