Box Score CENTRAL S.C. – The King University women's basketball team used a solid performance to move to 4-0 in Conference Carolinas play with a victory at Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. The Tornado built a sizable halftime advantage and closed the 74-57 win on an 8-0 run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado got off to a great start with Jalan Harper putting King ahead four seconds in. Sheena Johnson later made it a 7-2 lead with a triple and a Whitney Mitchell extended it to 9-2 five minutes in with a layup.
- Southern Wesleyan scored six straight points, evening the score at 13-13 with three minutes remaining, but King closed the quarter with four straight points to take a 17-13 advantage.
- Kori West started a 9-2 King run early in the second quarter. Harper connected on a triple and Arnelle Collins gave King a 27-18 lead two minutes into the second stanza.
- The Tornado used another 9-2 run to open up their largest lead of the first half at 36-23 following another Collins trifecta.
- Mitchell made a pair of free throws in the finals seconds to give King a 38-26 lead at halftime.
- Southern Wesleyan scored the first five points of the second half, cutting their deficit to 38-33 two minutes, in, but King responded.
- Johnson and Ashley Albertson came back with consecutive baskets to stretch the Tornado lead back to nine points.
- West capped a 5-0 spurt giving King a 52-37 lead with a layup and Emily Kiser stretched the Tornado lead to 60-44 in the waning seconds of the quarter.
- The Warriors made a free throw, giving King a 60-45 lead going to the fourth quarter.
- Southern Wesleyan opened the fourth quarter on a 9-4 run, cutting their deficit to 66-57 with three minutes remaining.
- However, King closed the contest on an 8-0 run, taking the 74-57 victory to move to 4-0 in Conference Carolinas play.
- Johnson led King with 20 points, shooting 6-for-11 from the floor including 3-for-4 from three –point range. She was also 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
- Collins followed with 14 points.
- Albertson was the final Tornado in double figures with 10 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Aneysa Williams led Southern Wesleyan with 14 points and Breanna Richardson followed with 12 points.
- Tatiana Manuel chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Johnson's 20 points matches a career-high, which she set in the opening game of the season.
