Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball played their first match in front of the Student Center Complex Crowd for the first time this year, and the Tornado took the opening set from Emmanuel College. However, the Lions came back to take the next two sets. King forced a fifth set, but Emmanuel took the match with a 15-10 fifth set victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following three straight points from Emmanuel, Matthew Lychock registered a kill to start a 4-0 King run.
- The Tornado hit a blistering .400 in the first set and were led by Jeff Sprayberry and Sean Luhmann who posted four kills each.
- Luhmann registered a kill to give King the lead for King at 16-15 as the Tornado took the frame 25-20.
- In the second set, Emmanuel used a 5-0 run to break a 13-13 tie and open up an 18-13 advantage.
- The Lions went on to take the set 25-19 and even the match.
- King held a 21-20 lead in the third set, but the Lions rolled off three straight points, taking a 23-21 lead. The teams then traded points until Jordan Funk gave Emmanuel the 25-23 set victory.
- The Tornado may have posted their best set of the match in the fourth set, hitting .520 and only making one attack error.
- Lychock registered four kills in the frame as King used a 4-0 run to take control of the set at 15-9. The Tornado then scored six straight points, taking a 24-14 lead before Nick Drooker gave King the 25-15 victory with one of his two kills in the match.
- The Tornado took an early 4-2 lead following a Luhmann kill in the fifth set.
- However, the Lions answered with a 6-0 run before Luhmann and Adrain Besson registered back-to-back kills.
- King was able to get within two points once more, but the Lions took the set 15-10 to take the match 3-2.
- Drooker posted a double-double, leading 36 assists to go along with 10 digs.
- Luhmann paced the offense with 12 kills on 21 attempts with two errors for an attack percentage of .476.
- The Tornado posted 11.0 blocks, led by Lychock who had seven and Sprayberry with six.
- Sprayberry also added 11 kills and Lychock chipped in with eight kills.
- Jimmy Nuckolls posted a match-high 16 digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Alex Barbosa posted a match-high 23 kills for the Lions while Gilberto Cervantes and Funk followed with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
- Funk also added 10 digs for the double-double.
- Caleb Vonaventure handed out 48 assists to go along with 12 digs for the double-double.
- Meshach McKnight led Emmanuel with 14 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 12 kills for Luhmann marks a career-high, besting his previous high of eight set a season ago.
- Nuckolls also set a career-best with 16 digs.

- King returns to action next Friday when they host Eastern Mennonite University at 7:00 p.m.
- Emmanuel travels to Lees-McRae on Saturday.
