Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team was defeated by Carson-Newman University Wednesday night in their home opener, 75-66. The game went back and forth early on with both teams making runs to regain the lead, the Eagles made the final run turning a one point lead into a nine point victory on a strong fourth quarter push.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a game of eight ties and eight lead changes King threw the first punch, jumping out to an early 6-1 lead in the first two and a half minutes of play.
- Carson-Newman was quick to counter going on a 14-6 run to take the lead with four minutes left in the quarter and King ended the first quarter up 23-21.
- After King scored 23 points in the first quarter the Eagles held the Tornado to just 10 points in the second.
- The last 4:33 of the half were scoreless for both teams and King entered the half trailing 38-33.
- Coming out of the half King battled to repossess the lead as Brittany Stringer sunk two consecutive three-point field goals and Whitney Mitchell added another to tie the game at 42.
- By the end of the third quarter King had cut Carson-Newman's advantage to one point.
- Carson-Newman, leading 53-52 entering the fourth quarter, but pulled away using a 14-4 run over the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter.
- Arnelle Collins answered back with couple layups cutting the lead to eight but the Tornado were unable catch the Eagles lead falling 75-66.
- Albertson recorded a double-double for the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
- Stringer also reached double figures for the Tornado with 10 points.
- Jalan Harper chipped in five points, three steals, and pulled down 11 rebounds for King, including three offensively.
FOR THE FOES
- Tatum Burstrom led the Eagles with 16 points and three steals.
- Kayla Newman and Taylor Peterson added 13 points apiece.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This marks Albertson's second straight double-double. She recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds in King's last game against Tusculum.
- This also marks a career-high in points for Albertson, topping her 13 points last game.
- Harper was one rebound away from matching a career-high in rebounds. She posted 12 against Southern Wesleyan last season.
